City Lights is more than just a church service on Sunday mornings. Our morning service is the first link in the chain of our vision. It’s on Sunday mornings that we gather together to worship the Lord, and celebrate Him as our Savior. After worshiping the Lord together we submit our hearts, and lives to the word of God to let it shape us.

We are a church that is centered on the Gospel and the finished work of Christ on our behalf. It is this Gospel that not only saves us from hell, but we believe the Gospel effects every aspect of our lives in the here and now. Jesus came to give us life in the here and now, not just in the afterlife.

This is incredible news- that God has reconciled us to himself by becoming a human (Jesus), and dying sacrificially on our behalf. This is more than just a theological statement we hold to, this is our core belief that fuels our lives.

As a church in Scranton, it is our desire to clearly present God’s love and grace to each family in this city.

Three Priorities of City Lights Church

    1. Worship –
Mankind was created for something beyond itself. Everyday countless dollars are spent chasing the next high in our every changing society. Yet, no amount of vacations or material goods will ever bring true satisfaction apart from Christ.
      C.S Lewis once said:

We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.

It is here that we recognize our inner most need to worship the one who made us. As a church we do this corporately through songs that are both biblical and inspirational.

    2. Word –
We are transformed as we gather together to receive God’s word to us through the Scripture. The Bible is more than a book or a moral code it is the story of God’s redemptive power working through His people. Because God is the same yesterday, today, and forever we can trust that His word is powerful in transforming our lives.
    3. Community –
Our culture has reduced church to a weekly service in which you may or may not have real connection with people. At City Lights we believe that impact takes place in community with real relationships. When life and faith are shared together, religion becomes more than something we do, it is becomes the very fabric of our lives.
